What is gratuity calculator in UAE?

Gratuity is an end-of-service benefit that employers in the UAE must pay to employees who have completed at least one year of continuous service. It is a legal right under UAE Labour Law and serves as a financial reward for your years of dedication and hard work.

Whether you resign from your job or your employment is terminated, you are entitled to receive gratuity payment based on your basic salary and total years of service. Understanding your gratuity entitlement helps you plan your finances better and ensures you receive what you have rightfully earned.

How is Gratuity Calculated in UAE?

UAE Labour Law provides a clear formula for gratuity calculation. The amount depends on your basic salary, length of service, and type of employment contract.

For employees who have worked between one and five years, gratuity is calculated at 21 days of basic salary for each year of service. For employees who have completed more than five years, the calculation is 21 days for the first five years and 30 days of basic salary for each additional year. The total gratuity amount cannot exceed the equivalent of two years’ salary.

For employees on unlimited contracts who resign before completing five years, the gratuity may be reduced based on the length of service. Those who resign after five years are entitled to full gratuity benefits.
